Hi Preran,

Thank you for posting about the Dw 18.1 update.

Reading the documentation I noticed that there is only a link for creating sites using bootstrap v3.x, and not for bootstrap v4. I don't know if the Dw implementation of v4 has changed the default layout in v4 from flexbox to that used in v3.x, (floats), but the use of flexbox would make the documentation links and editing v4 in Dw significantly different to the previous versions.

Can you ask the Dw team if they can post updated links for bootstrap v4 and its usage, and if they can clarify how users would create their own css for flexbox properties, as unless there has finally been some improvments to the css designer it does not support a visual css flexbox implementation, or a stand alone css auto-prefixer?

Everyone knows my thoughts on using a framework, especially when it is flexbox based, (like paying for a first class ticket, then insisting one travels in the cargo bay).

Hi

Thanks for reporting.

In Bootstrap documentation Design responsive websites using Bootstrap  it is mentioned to create a site with BS V4.0 or BS V3.3.7 both.

Under heading  "create HTML documents based on Bootstrap framework " if you scroll down it is mentioned that by default a site is created in V4.0 , in site setup>advances settings>bootstrap, by default V4.0 is selected.

By default, the site is created using Bootstrap v4.0.0. After you create the document, you find the css, and js folders in the site root folder. However, if you want to create the site using Bootstrap version3.3.7, select Site > Manage Sites. Select the site root folder. Click Advance Settings > Bootstrap. In the Bootstrap Version drop-down field, select 3.3.7. For Bootstrapv3.3.7, you can see the css, js, and fonts folder in the site root folder.

Please let us know if you referring to any specific link in the documentation.

Thanks

Kratika

Hi Kratika,

If you follow the link for design responsive sites using bootstrap in -

https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/whats-new.html

(link goes to - https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/bootstrap.html)

under the 'common questions', there is a link to the bootstrap documentation -

https://getbootstrap.com/docs/3.3/css/

As you can see the link is for the bootstrap 3.3 documentation and not v4.

Sorry, I should have been clearer in explaining where an additional link and indication of which version is required .

Can someone unmark this question as answered please.

Until the updated info is posted, and the second part of the question is answered, the question remains unanswered.

Thank you for unmarking as answered Preran.

For those interested, the link in the Dw documentation that points to the bootstrap documentation is still for version 3.x.

The 'message' at the top of that page is to 'get' version 4, and not to indicate it is for version 4, the info on the page for version 3.3 page especially those about floats and clearfix should be ignored, (unless of course you wish to override the use of flexbox, and know exactly what the consequences of doing so are for your layout).

The docs for version 4 can be read at -

https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.0/layout/overview/

Thank you for adding the link to the bootstrap 4 documentation.

As no one has replied to the second part of my question, I will mark this discussion as answered.
