Spot Color Type layers and Placed Linked Spot Color Illustrator files not showing up as spot colors.

I have a CMYK plus spot color PSD image that includes a PMS Green Type layer and PMS Green Illustrator Image but both get converted to CMYK and are not printing as Spot colors. 

How can this be changed?

There are no Spot Color Layers in Photoshop (so far), the only way to actually use Spot Colors in a CMYK image in Photoshop is to use Spot Channels.
