Photoshop CS6 crash

Program will not open. gives "unexpected end-of file" followed by "preference file was invalid (it has been deleted)" have reinstalled from disc, but still get the same error.

any help wiil be appreiciated

Preference files are usually not touched during uninstall or reinstall. You would have to delete it yourself.

If you need a quick and dirty way to restore your preferences, here's a way you can do it using a keyboard shortcut on launch:

Windows - double-click the PS icon to start Photoshop

                  Immediately Hold down CTRL-SHIFT-ALT

                  You will see a delete preferences dialog. Click “yes".

Macintosh - Hold down CMD-SHIFT-OPTION instead.
