Greeting all,

Two related questions...using older Lightroom 5, on a Mc book...there a setting where when Lightroom is open it auto imports images from an SD card into previews when an SD card in inserted?  Currently I need to click on "import" before it imports into previews.   Secondly is there a setting where the previews import in order?  Currently images are imported in random order on preview screen?

Lightroom imports blocks of photos to speed up import, so you'll need to set it Capture time to see in in order.

The setting is in Preferences, in the General Tab.

It can be affected by Image Capture, so check that too.

To set the grid previews in Capture Time order, go to the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, just above the filmstrip, and set the menu to Capture Time by clicking on the up/down arrows to the right of the Sort menu.  If you do not see this toolbar, tap the letter T on your keyboard to toggle it on.

To understand better-  It only automatically 'Opens' the Import dialog showing the photos to be imported.

Currently I need to click on "import" before it imports into previews.

And that is correct as it has always been. You then have the options of selecting specific images to be imported, and setting the 'Destination' for the import.
