Why does Adobe Camera Raw update so frequently?

I've been using Photoshop since 95. Been a while. But I have never understood why Camera Raw has to update so frequently. Over the long haul of so many updates, this has just grown to annoy me. I do ZERO import from cameras. I would LOVE to turn this off if possible. It just looks like someone is doing something inefficient!

The main reason it updates so much is to update new camera and lens profiles.
