Hello

I am working on InDesign CC 2018.

I have brought in a few objects that i worked on in the previous iteration of ID (perhaps 2017).

Workflow:

1) i grouped them and copied them

2) i pasted them in the pasteboard of the InDesign doc in which is wish to plug it in.

3) Hit a wall when it came to anchoring it inline

Now i wish to paste these objects inline. IBut i am unable to see the blue square that will allow me to shift drag the object inline.

I have also referred to the foll link:  Cannot paste a grouped object inline

Capture.PNG

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Regards

Ashim

Try the alternative method:

Selection tool: Cut (or copy)

Type tool: Click insertion point and paste

Does that work?

Hi Jane-e

That worked. Thanks

And Barb

I did try and toggle between "Show/or Hide Anchor Object Control," but I couldn't view the blue square.

Now that it's working, ashimg, does the anchor widget appear?

(And a fun fact: the “blue” square will only be blue if you are on Layer 1 or another Layer that is assigned to blue. It actually picks up the layer color.)

Do you have the anchor widget on all other frames or is it missing everywhere? It should appear on all frames (and groups) if it's not hidden in View > Extras. What about in other documents?

Also (probably unrelated), is the "red x" an empty graphic frame on the Master page? Does it have a purpose?

Hello Jane-e

Yes, I do see the anchor-widget on other frames in this document and others.

Capture.PNG

Yes, the red x is an empty graphic frame on the Master page, which consist of two layers.

Layer 1) Header/Footer text content

Layer 2) red x graphic frame (on layer 2 to ensure that if I place any image on the red x, the header and footer content is not concealed)

Thanks for your time

Hi Ashim:

What does it say under View > Extras? Show/or Hide Anchor Object Control? If it says Show, click it.

If it says Hide, I'd click it to hide it and then show it again. If it still isn't there, try ungrouping/regrouping. It ought to be visible.
