I've made a design that is filled with different sized squares that interlock and touch either perfectly, but now I need to make the whole shape bigger...

When I use free transform holding the shift key, it creates a lot of gaps between the rows of squares that were aligned perfectly before.

Is there any way around this? How do I resize the shape without messing up how well each square sits next to each other?

Please help (urgent)

I love the free-transform key and use it often. However, I never hold down the shift key, I use the movement icon and move sides much like the cropping tool. I have a Wacom tablet and stylus pen. If you have the squares on different layers, it might take joining all layers. Sometimes I change each layer. Sometimes the free-transform will do all layers as one, sometimes it does not. Make sure every item placed is at the same DPI if you bring in individual forms. Experiment! Regards, JH

I tried to recreate your problem - no gaps.

For more clarity please provide a screenshot of your image and of the layer panel.

Lies every square on a layer of its own?

Are the squares painted in pixel mode or form mode or are they placed from an extern source?

Select all your layers and create a smart object. Then resize the smart object. The advantage: this changements  are non destructive.
