Surface Pro 3 pen driver issue?

So I believe the most recent photoshop update has made it a PAIN to use my pen on my Surface Pro 3.

The issue is whenever I try to just use the brush tool and draw, instead it just acts like I am holding down the "space" bar and moves the screen around, but to actually draw I have to hold down the '-' button on my pen and is really hard to work with! I have been using this pen and photoshop for a LONG time and this has never happened before. And because this is a Surface Pro 3, and NOT a tablet I cannot change how the buttons on my pen are used in this program like on a tablet.

Help please! I have many clients and need to work. I think this is a driver issue. And for now I have to use Clip Studio instead. But love photoshop!

Please search before posting. This has been answered many times in the last few days.

The latest Microsoft Windows update (KB4093112)  has caused an issue with tablets and Photoshop.

You can either - undo the update

or

Do the following  :

1. Use notepad to create a text file and type in :

UseSystemStylus 0

2. Save the file as PSUserConfig.txt in the following location
C: > Users > Username > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 > Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Settings

3. Go to the  tablet properties and uncheck "Use Windows Ink"

4. Restart Photoshop

That is it - all should now work well (you need to do all the above steps to retain pen pressure)

Note : There is a third option if the above does not work on your tablet. Microsoft made this change intentionally and they have issued a way round it with registry change (see link below). However for  Photoshop and most tablets the PSUserConfig method works.

Note 2 : If you have another version of Photoshop installed e.g. CC2017 then you will need to add the file to the CC2017 folders

Thank you Dave for the quick information! I decided to uninstall the update because I could not find the AppData "Roaming" as in your instructions. But after uninstalling the program, I can use my pen like normal. Yay! Thank you much!

Sincerely,

Amanda

So I tried option 2 and I was able to make the pen draw like normal. However, it appears as though that my pen's pressure sizing has been disabled. is there a way to work around this issue?

Sincerely, Cameron
