Unable to open catalog on Lightroom Classic CC after upgrading OS

I have finally upgraded my computer's OS and reloaded Lightroom onto the PC.

I was hoping to just take one of the backup catalog files and getting Lightroom working, but I keep getting the error "Assertion Failed" every time it opens the catalog and a crash report being sent to Adobe, with no suggested fix.The version of Lightroom was also the same from one machine to the other.

Is there anything else I can do, or do I face the cumbersome task of importing photos into a new catalog?

System info:

Original OS: Win8

New OS: Win 10 Pro 1709

Photos for my catalogs are in the exact same location, just a new OS installed.

Verified registry is as it supposed to be as per the article.

Same error persists 😞

Moved lrcat file to C:\users\[my username]\pictures and tried opening from there - also failed.
