Brush/Erase Tool moving the canvas

I've seen this happening to others with Wacom tablets and i've tried everything, Basically I'm trying to draw and erase but each time i press down on my tablet it just moves the canvas instead. I'm using a Huion H420 pen tablet and Photoshop CC 2018, I've tried everything i can think of, including the solutions given for people with Wacom tablets, which either did nothing for me or just made it worse. I know it's an issue with the Windows Ink workspace but I've found no way to turn it off.

I'm completely stumped with this i just don't know how to fix it and it's making drawing almost impossible.

Hi

The latest windows update (KB4093112)  has caused an issue with tablets and Photoshop.

You can either :

Undo the update

or

Do the following (recommended) :

1. Use notepad to create a text file and type in :

UseSystemStylus 0

2. Save the file as PSUserConfig.txt in the following location
C: > Users > Username > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 > Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Settings

3. Go to the  tablet properties and uncheck "Use Windows Ink"

4. Restart Photoshop

That is it - all should now work well (you need to do all the above steps to retain pen pressure)

Note : There is a third option. Microsoft made this change intentionally and they have issued a way round it with registry change (see link below). However for  Photoshop the PSUserConfig method works.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Windowsink/comments/8508fi/controlling_pen_behavior_in_windows_10 /

Note 2 : If you have another version of Photoshop installed e.g. CC2017 then you will need to add the file to the CC2017 folders

If you typed it as UseSys Stylus 0 it will not work. It must be UseSystemStylus 0

Thanks Dave. I have tried your 2nd, recommended option. However I can't find the Adobe folder on my C drive. Could it be because I use Photoshop from the Adobe Cloud?

Thanks again.

Thank you Ged. That did answer that query. However, it hasn't solved the issue with Photoshop, i.e. the brush tool drags the canvas and I am unable to draw.

Should I try anything else?

Many thanks, again.

Thank you Dave. I added the file to CC 2017, and the canvas is not moving now, when I use the brush tool. Which is brilliant.

However, I seem to have lost pressure sensitivity in the stylus now. Ideas?

Thanks again,

Unchecking Windows ink stops the canvas moving. The PSUserConfig.txt file restores pen pressure/tilt. It must be typed exactly as posted. Also be careful in the naming. Notepad will automatically add the .txt file extension. If you type it you will end up with a file called PSUserConfig.txt.txt which will not work.

Hi Dave,

Thanks again for your quick reply. I think I did have the file name correct, but have tried again and added it to both the CC2017 and 2018 subfolders. I'm afraid, the pen pressure hasn't been restored....

Any other ideas?

Thank you so much!

Hi Angela

Not sure why it doesn't work for you as it has been a standard way to work round Windows Ink problems for a while.

As an alternative approach , you could restore windows ink and  try the fix now provided by Microsoft in the link below:https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4093112/windows-10-update-kb4093112
