Acrobat Pro DC - Combine PDF files stops working after a few times

I run into an issue with Acrobat Pro DC, when combining twp pdf files, using the COMBINE FILE TOOL. After I use this feature successfully two or three times, combining 2 files into one, the third or fourth time, it will stop working after I click on the "Add Files" button in the pop-up window. A dark grey screen appears instead of the combined temp document. In order to keep going, I need to close the application and reopen it and choose the files to combine again.

Is there a solution to it?

Hello Paulforde,

We're sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. Is Acrobat is freezing or crashing while using the Combine PDF feature?

Please check for any pending updates of Acrobat installed from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after updating Acrobat and try combining files.

Reset the Acrobat's Preferences once and see if this makes any difference. To reset the Preferences, refer to the article How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Is it a Mac or Windows machine and what is the version of OS installed?

What is the dot version of Acrobat installed? To identify refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hi there

We are sorry for the delay in response and the trouble caused

We need some more info for better understanding

  • What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Adobe Acrobat /Reader DC
Make sure you have the latest version 20.006.20042 installed
  • Is this a behavior with a particular PDF or with all the PDF files? Please try with different PDF files and check If its a file specific issue please share the file with us for testing.
  • You may also try to reset the preferences to default as described (https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792...)

If it still doesn't work

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal
