"Export settings" is confusing

Enclosed are snapshots of two different “export settings” of a project based on 3840*2160 clips.

The first one “h264” the second one “match sequence settings”.

There are two issues which confuses me:

  1. The export option of “match sequence settings’ as you can see doesn’t match the sequence settings (1920*1080 instead of 3840*2160).
  2. One would expect that the size of the h264 export option file will be much larger than the 1920*1080 file. but it is the opposite.

the 1920*1080 export file is about 1.2 G while the h264 ( 3840*21600) is less than

0.5G

That is because of the codec: I frame only mpeg.

H.264 is much more efficient.

Match Sequence settings means just that: it uses the preview codec used in the sequence.

In this case its the mpeg Preview codec with lesser quality.

Best is not to use this setting. Its used for a quick output.

Just choose one of the H.264: you can tweak the settings if you like.

Hi Ann

There is still something I don't get, if "match sequence settings" creates a "lesser quality" file how come the size of this file is 3 times bigger than the more quality H.264 file?
