Spin transition just freezes during play?

I'm new to editing video & have been trying to add a spin transition to a clip. But after I finish and playback all it does is freeze during the transition. Can anyone help?

Have you rendered the transition?

If your computer does not have a lot of horsepower, depending on the format of the material you are working with and the Sequence Settings of the timeline you are editing on - you may need to render the transition before it will playback.

Click on the transition to select it, then go to the menu Sequence > Render Selection.
