After Effects clips not showing in premiere pro

I have been working in both premiere pro and after effects.

When I do not have after effects open, the video that I have edited in after effects does not show in premiere pro and only the effect that I have done to it plays.

The problem is I have half of my effects done in one file of after effects and the other half done in another file.

I have been looking around for a solution and I can not find one

Which versions (number-dot-number, not 'year release') do you have of each app? As in PrPro 12.1, AE 15.1 ...

Premire - 12.1.0

After Effects - 15.1.0

Hmmm ... if say you've Ae closed, and in PrPro, tell it to use Dynamic Link to Ae, does Ae then open with the clip loaded?

I can not find my existing after effect files using the dynamic link. All it shows is Essential Gra[hics, Plug-ins, presets, and scripts

I meant to send a new clip to Ae via dynamic link ... I think that may be the issue, the two apps aren't finding each other naturally.

I just tried that and it is still only playing the effetcs. But when I open up the after effects file in After effects it all plays in premire pro

If the apps are properly were of each other,  sending a clip to AE from PrPro should open Ae .
