LR classic clocks (hangs as not responding) when card pulled even after it has been ejected by LR

LR seems to frequently hang when doing import related actions. The only way out is to terminate it and restart. This happens when you try to click elsewhere in the program:

-- When the SD card is pulled even after it has been ejected by LR

-- When it's building previews.

As an aside, LR lives up to its well-deserved reputation as a response time pig.

Hi MikeTrahan99,

Sorry that Lightroom Classic CC is freezing while the SD card is manually ejected or ejected by Lightroom/system.

This issue has been identified as a bug and our Engineers are working towards a fix. Please add your vote to this discussion by clicking the "Me-Too" button up at the top right: Lightroom Classic 7.3: Unresponsive after Eject SD Card/USB Drive | Photoshop Family Customer Community

A "reasonable" solution, in the meantime, is to copy the images to your hard drive using your system browser first. Then import them into Lightroom using the Add option.
