Hello Steveo,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, when you are printing a scanned PDF from Adobe Reader, it takes 3-4 minutes, Is that correct?

Please make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed, check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after updating Adobe Reader and see if this makes any difference.

Also, install the latest driver/firmware of the HP printer. Try the following steps and see if this brings any difference in the time taken to print the scanned PDF:

  • Open a PDF file in Adobe Reader.
  • From the menu, select File > Print
  • From the dialog displayed, click on the Advanced button at the bottom.
  • On the Advanced Print Setup dialog, make sure that “Let printer determine colors” is CHECKED.
  • Click OK and OK to print the document.

You may also refer to the following Adobe discussion and try the suggestions Printing pdf is very slow

If the issue persists, please share the following details so that we can assist you in a better manner:

  • What is the dot version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
  • What is the version of OS installed?
  • What is the make and model of the printer and the version of driver/firmware installed?
  • Computer Hardware specification?
  • Is it a personal computer or an office machine?
  • Is it a Managed network or personal network?

Let us know how it goes and share your findings.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Are the Word documents that you are printing text files or images?

A scanned document is an image file if it hasn't been OCR'd.
