I have a poorly light green screen and I also have an unwanted object in the way.
The solution I think I want is to use the Opacity, to use the free draw bezier to outline the area I want to keep.
But what is the commend procedure to 'cut' away the unwanted area?
Sound simple but I just can't find an answer!!!!
If you’re masking with the tools under opacity in the effect controls panel it should be working. Perhaps try re-starting Premiere.

Set mask to invert.

Thanks Ann but this does work - I think there is a step missing.
So I create a full opacity area and then press invert - noting happens.
Once Ive created the opacity area do I have to 'check it' or confirm it it then press invert??

You’re approaching this the right way. It’s defined as creating a garbage matte. Use the pen tool under opacity to outline the item that you want to remove. Make sure that you connect your last point with your fist point to chase the mask. In the effects control panel you may need to check invert mask. Then use the Ultra Key effect. Hope that this helps.

Thank Rob this is driving me crazy!
This doesn't seem to work - I use the pen, join the dots and ensure that the last point meets the first. Then go to Invert and noting happens.
If I use the elipse mask - same as above
Is there a step missing -do I have to confirm, or click something to confirm the mask is complete???
