Why do my PS edited files automatically lock?

I am using PS CC and LR Classic CC on a Mac (High Sierra Version 10.13.5).

I usually bring a file from my LR catalogue into PS via LR.

After editing a file, IO save it as a TIFF file.

When i reopen the file in PS, the file is locked and I am unable to see any layers etc.

If I try to unlock the file, it is covered to a "layer 0" and all edits are apparently lost.

How can I prevent my files from automatically locking?

Thanks in advance.

Did you have "Layers" checked, in the PS dialog - when you saved your edited image, as a Tiff?

Also, have you tried with just using "Save", rather than "Save As"? LR will have already provided PS with a default location and file name for this new edit version, in the same folder as the source original and by default suffixed with "-edit".

How do you 'reopen' the file? If you send a TIFF from Lightroom to Photoshop, you get a dialog with three options. Only 'Edit Original' will send the file with layers intact (but obviously without new Lightroom edits). If you choose another option, the file will be flattened and so your layers will be lost.
