Hello,
my laptop loads extremely slow and then stops when using premiere pro with a project.
Added some transitions, glows, lights etc. but nothing very special.
Tried new Drivers for GPU, installed CUDA
Enabled CUDA in rendering option.
Defragmentation of HDD.
CCleaner (registry cleaning, few systemstart programs etc.)
Anti Virus/Malware Scan.
Cleaning my whole system up.
Tried using low graphic settings in NVIDIA ControlPanel also.
Changed Creative Cloud and applications from 200 GB free of 278 GB Partition to a 380 GB free from 397 GB partition.
Newest Adobe PremierePro CC installed.
Nothing made it better.
Is there a possibility that i can switch off Effect-Reviews in Premiere pro?
So that everything runs just basic without showing the effects (or in extremely low quality?)
I don't need to see everything with my workflow, just zoom in and out of pictures and setting keyframes^^
But when rendering, my system might still stop right?
I used Lightworks before, was always running fast.
The effects were not that good like in Premiere though.
Intel Core i5-3230M CPU @2.60 GHZ
Nvidia Geforce GT 740M
8GB RAM
Windows 10 64 Bit
HDD: 680 GB
Partition 1: 200GB free of 278
Partition 2 with Premiere: 380GB free of 397
Is there anything else that i can do, besides upgrading or buying a new system? ( got no money )
hello,
i solved the problem by changing the format of the video

Hi CHYO,
Sorry for the trouble. Please try proxy workflow & check the performance. Here are the instructions: Basic Premiere Pro editing workflow
Let us know the status.

Thanks for response.
After deleting much files in my C:User Folders my system runs faster.
At the moment i try to wipe free space on my HDD with CCleaner, this takes 3 days.
After that i will try the methods you sent to me.
Another question: When i use lower graphic settings with my card (NVIDIA control panel).
Will my finished media projects also be rendered in lower quality?
Might it also be beneficial to disable the mercury transport engine in Premiere?
I will post when i tried the proxy workflow methods.

Hello,
my wiping is ended.
Now i try the proxy workflow methods.
So i just use one system for my editing.
Im a bit confused about the term proxies.
I use mainly pictures in my sequences.
So this option is not the right for me? :
"The Attach Proxy & Reconnect Full Resolution Media options only apply to video or A/V clips. Other file types such as audio-only or stills (including Image Sequences), are not supported. Since not all importers function the same, some formats allow audio-only files to be selected. In this case attempting to attach results in an Attach failure, warning you of the mismatch. Clicking OK brings up you back to the attach dialog to help you choose a compatible clip. Create Proxies does not work with Offline clips."
Is this the right method?:
"You can also create your own 'Ingest' presets using Adobe Media Encoder. For more information, see Using Adobe Media Encoder to create your 'Ingest' presets. "?
Is this for 'Clips only' also?
Someone wrote to me:
"You might try disabling the Mercury Transport engine in Premiere to see if this helps prevent the lock up -
this actually would be my first move."
How could this be done?
Does i need to enable it after editing then?
When i use lower graphic settings with my card (NVIDIA control panel).
Will my finished media projects also be rendered in lower quality?
What is the right method now? It's confusing.
After deleting Files in C:/User, changing partition and wiping free space, my system runs much faster.
I made a mark at ingest and can only select copy in the settings (because only clips can use other right?)
But all of a sudden when working on a Premiere Pro projects, the computer just shuts off.
It just goes off lol.
I start Premiere, it’s running much faster, ~66 % RAM Usage in Task Monitor.
It runs a while and then I for example switch an effect off and on and off and on again to see changes and then the computer just switches off^^
I have these low settings in nvidia controlpanel now:
Anisotrop off
antialiasing fxaa off
antialising - modus off
antialisisng tansparenceoff
cuda gpus - all
three puffer off
maximum amount of prerendered singleimages 4
shadercache on
texturefilter high performance
texturefilter -anisotrop… on
texturefilter negative lod bias accepting
texturefilter trilinear optimization on
threaded optimization on
sourrounding… off
vertical syncrhonization off
prerendered virtual reality singleimages 2

Tried Everything out inclusive disabling mercury engine.
Can i sent you some log files or something so that you can take a look at it?
As soon as i use more complex effects like immersive video, my system shuts off.
I think i need to buy new computer system?

got a geforce gtx 1080 ti,
threadripper 1900
32 gb ram,
nvme ssd
3gb external sata
i can still use my laptop for work preperation (downloading clips, images etc. and writing texts)
But thanks for your time and the help dude!

Hi CHYO,
I am sorry for the delay in response. I was OOO for few days.
The lower graphics settings may not effect the quality of the finished media projects.
But, if you change the Renderer in Premiere Pro, the finished sequences will require rendering.
Related to the Images in Sequence, we have best practices. Here is the article: Importing still images into Premiere Pro
Glad you have a new machine with powerful configuration now. I am sure Premiere Pro will run smoothly in this machine.
Are you facing any Audio only import issues in the new machine?
Thanks,
Vidya

Hi CHYO,
Please elaborate the current issue. Are you trying to import the files or drag the files from project panel to timeline?
Check this article: FAQ: Why does audio or video not go to the track where I drop it?
Thanks,
