Preset issue

Hi guys,

I have a super weird problem!

I have bought some lightroom presets a while ago to edit my photos and everything was great.

Yesterday i bought some new ones, and suddenly my old presets completely changed colors! Nothing to do with how the original ones were! And when i try to re install they still look super weird, really contrasty and yellow.

Do you guys know what the issue may be??

Thank you,

Anna x

Hi annas,

We're really sorry for all the hassle. Could you please let us know the exact version of Lightroom you are using now? Also, you may try calibrating the monitor profile back to defaults and check if that helps to fix this issue.

If you are Creative Cloud subscriber then, you can update the Lightroom application to 7.4 version.

Regards,

Mohit

Thanks for the update. Could you please update Lightroom to 7.4 via Creative Cloud Desktop app and check if that helps.

What operating system you are on (Windows/Mac)?

You never know. How could installing a new preset change an existing one? The only way that could happen is if the new preset also installed (and did overwrite) a special camera profile, that was used by the old presets too. So what kind of presets are they and how did you install them?

Perhaps you could answer my question? Resetting the preferences has nothing to do with overwriting a camera profile, so I don't understand how you can conclude that.

By the way: this may seem like an odd question, but it could be very important: how do you pay for Lightroom? Do you have a subscription, or did you pay once for a perpetual license?

That's what I was afraid of. You have this problem of having 'upgraded' a perpetual license of Lightroom 6 to Lightroom Classic somehow. That upgrade should never have been possible, because you do not have a subscription to Lightroom Classic, but a perpetual license for Lightroom 6. There is no perpetual license for Lightroom Classic and there is no Lightroom 7. Due to a bug in the updaters it was somehow possible to install Lightroom Classic without having a subscription, and this now causes all kinds of problems. You’ve just been lucky that it didn’t happen earlier, when you first started with the upgraded version.

The solution is to go back to Lightroom 6, the version you have a license to use. In order not to lose all the work you may have done since your first update, select all the images that were imported after you updated to Classic and choose 'Metadata - Save Metadata to Files'. Then open Lightroom 6 with your old Lightroom 6 catalog, and import these images. The edits and metadata should come over, except those edits that are new for Lightroom Classic (like Range Mask). You can find the correct installers and updaters here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html

Or, of course, you can take a subscription to Lightroom Classic after all. In that case you need to fully uninstall Lightroom, and then reinstall it after the subscription has come into effect and you’ve logged in with your Creative Cloud credentials. Your catalog will not be affected by uninstalling/reinstalling.

Also please go here to help Adobe sort out this mess: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html

I saw a post in another thread also!

I have a subscription

Are you Signing-in to the Creative Cloud Desktop App with the email and password you used for the 'monthly' paid subscription?

and have installed and uninstalled many times over 2 days

And have you tried resetting Preferences?

Signing OUT of the Desktop App and then Signing IN?

and my presets still do not work as the licence says it perpetual but I've never purchased a perpetual I've always paid subscription

Then you may have to contact Adobe Customer Support to clarify your subscription.

I bought a bunch of new presets yesterday, Ty French ones, G presets and Phil Chester so the same principle as usual

downloaded the link and installed each preset to lightroom.

The ones that changed colors are Jeff Isy Lightroom Presets Summer Pack and they used

to be really soft and kind of desaturated and now they are super contrasted

and yellow...

I tried replying with links before but i have a feeling that wasn't allowed because the answer didnt post.

I am using Lightroom Classic CC 7.1,

(Paid) Once for a perpetual license.

To summarize what Johan said in Post#10-

There is no perpetual license for Lightroom Classic and there is no Lightroom 7.

Meaning- You cannot use any Version of Lightroom Classic without paying the monthly (or yearly) Subscription.

Your install of CC 7.1 will be corrupt and continue to give errors.

You are limited to using Version 6.14 and will need to revert to v6.14, OR Subscribe!
