workflow lightroom photoshop problem

Hi there,

my workflow is like this:

I import a raw file into lightroom,

then I make some small changes to the image in lightroom,

I open it up in photoshop for retouching,

save it and then go back to lightroom.

In lightroom I do the finishing work to the image.

So far so good.

But here is my problem.

After I'm done with the image in lightroom,

I often discover something in the image that only can be fixed in photoshop.

So I open up the image again in photoshop and fix it.

I save the image and go back to lightroom.

And then here comes the problem, after I saving the image again in photoshop,

all lightroom changes are gone.

Is there a setting that makes the lightroom changes still be there after saving the image in photoshop again?

Thanks for the Help

Generally to edit an existing file that is known to contain layers, use “Edit Original”, do the edits in Photoshop, Save, and then in LR step back in History to Recover Lightroom edits.

I just experimented and found I did not even need to step back in LR history panel it seemed to return to LR (after more PS adjustments) with the last LR edits applied. Maybe this Edit-In function has been improved over previous versions of LR.

Thanks for the fast reply.

on my end, latest LR Version on Mac, after the return to LR all LR edits are gone.

But one step back in history did the trick.

Thank you very much,

Rainer

Are you sure you have the latest version of Lightroom; Version 10.4?  It seems to have been corrected on my Mac.

Hi Rainer,

Thanks for "Correct Answer"

JoeKostoss is correct about the LR version ie. Current 'latest' is Lightroom Classic-CC v7.4 (10.4)

Your number 10.12.6 is probably your Mac operating system! yes?

For your Lightroom version- go to the Lightroom top Menu: Help>System Info... (or Help>About........)

You are possibly using an earlier version.
