print color management setting won't stick

I'm using the latest Lightroom classic on a new Mac Book Pro.  The Print Color Management Profile setting (Managed by Printer or ICC) won't stay set.  If I do anything else in Lightroom this setting disappears so I have to select the profile every time I print an image.

I did see an older post about this issue (2015) that supposedly fixed the issue by deleting a custom print profile.  However, this does not work for me and anyway it happens with the default profile.

Any advice much appreciated.

What exactly is if I do anything else ?

Did you try to save current settings as a template? Does it stick then or return when you select the template?

What is known to cure various strange behaviors is Resetting Preferences in Lightroom CC/6

If I create a new template it immediately removes the color profile setting

so I don't have the opportunity to then set the existing settings into the

new template.

I tried resetting all the Lightroom presets but this didn't change anything.

Do anything else means .. select one of the other modules (Library,

Develop, etc) and then go back to the Print module, or select a different

template while in the Print module. If I select a different template and

then go back to the original I was using the setting is still empty.

I can select different photos while still in the Print module from the

image strip and I can select different collections without the setting

being removed. But going to the Library module to select a different image

and then going back to the Print module the setting will be removed.

Thanks for your advice.

Just to be make sure the terminology is correct, I think that solution was not about which printer profile (color profile) was in use, but about which macOS printer driver preset was in use. If we're talking about the same thing, printing was more consistent when the macOS printer preset was set to Default and not any custom preset.

Thanks for the comments and sorry for the tardy reply.

I am using the Default macOS printer driver preset. My issue is not

affected by which macOS printed driver preset is selected.

The issue I'm having is the selected "Profile" in the "Color Management"

section of the "Print Job" tab in the "Print" Module sidebar.

I make a selection (e.g., "Managed by Printer" or "Canon Pro-1000 Glossy

Plus II"). This stays selected and I can print the selected image.

If I go to any other module (e.g., Library, Develop) and back to the Print

module (without doing anything else), the color profile setting is removed

(empty). I have to make a selection again before I can print.

While in the Print module if I select a different template the color

profile setting is removed.

I tried resetting the Lightroom presets as suggested but this did not

change the behavior.

I have used Lightroom for many years under Windows without seeing this

issue. But I did import my catalogue from the Windows version so perhaps

that is a contributing factor?

Thanks for any advice.
