No Manual Panning option

When I'm specifying recording settings, my Automatic Recording panel shows only Automatic Panning or No Panning. It does not show Manual Panning. Any ideas why this might be? I can't find a setting to make Manual Panning available.

The online help is no help. It explains the difference between the two types of panning but that's it.

I'm using a Vista laptop with 4gb of memory, and all of the other CP4 features are working really well. I just can't seem to test the Manual Panning feature.
