Error at launch and while trying to access the Performance Tab of Preferences + lagg with paint brush

Greetings,

I'm experiencing a lot of trouble with my copy of Photoshop CC 2018. First, it displays an error window at launch saying that it couldn't run a non-cited operation due to a program error. Closing this window will still let you use Photoshop, but with two other problems. The first one being: the paint brush is laggy as hell; le the line will drag behind the brushs and the strokes will only be displaying after a variable delay, wich is veeeeery anoying. I made my reseach on this problem, and it seems that a common solution is to deactivate material acceleration. Expect... I can't do that, because the same error window mentionned earlier will pop again and upon closing it, will turn into gray all of the menus, effectively rendering Photoshop useless. I have to close and relaunch it to have a somewhat functionnal software again.

My specs are:

Intel Core i5 4670

Windows 7 SP1

16 Go RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB & double screen setup

Wacom Intuo SP

I've allready tried the following fixes to no avail:

- Updating OS & Drivers, incuding the CG ones

- reinitalizing preferences

- uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop CC

- lowering the smooth option of the brush to 0

I can provide the folowing data:

- A Dxdiag of my machine (complete list of the technical characteristics)

- Logs extracted with the support software provided by Adobe.

As a last note, I'll say that I also have a competitor's software installed, and that I have have no brush lag or system issues with it.

I hope that my probelm can be solved, as I do prefer the way more functionnality-rich environement of Photoshop over said competitor soft.

Hi

You mention double displays. They work fine if they are plugged into the same GPU. Multiple GPUs with conflicting drivers can cause issues. See section 7 here: Troubleshoot Photoshop graphics processor (GPU) and graphics driver issues

If you only have one GPU please go to Photoshop Help>System Info and click "Copy". Then paste the info here.

Thanks for your response. Both of the screens are pluged to the same GPU (and I only have that one afaik; no video plug on the MB), albeit one via Displayport and the other with DVI (can't do otherwise as the displayports are dead on one of the monitors and the CG only have 1 DVI and 1 HDMI ports as alternatives)

Hi

You are right there is only one GPU and it is detected OK but for some reason Open GL drawing is disabled. Your drivers are up to date as far as I can tell

If you can't get into Preferences to change that (and you have already reset preferences) then I would uninstall and reinstall again - but this time run the Adobe CC cleaner tool between the uninstall and reinstall.

Hi,

I did as instructed, but unfortunatly it didn't change anything. Uninstalled Photoshop CC and then downloaded and ran the cleaner as an administrator to clean all softwares, just in case. Strange thing to note: I didn't get a log text file as indicated once the cleaner was done and closed. I then re-dowloaded the installer and ran it. Once it was done, Photoshop launched and I was greeted with that same error message. The problem persist with preferences and the lag too. I checked the system info and OpenGL drawing is still disabled. Is there a way we could activate it other than the preference menu? A config file? Registery parameter?

So. I managed to solve at least one problem. I don't have any error messages and can access to performances as long as I launch Photoshop as an admin. I do however still experience lag on my brush strokes, with or without material acceleration. Tried to switch between different modes of performances that we can define in the "advanced" option (an relaunching the software between changes), but that didn't improve anything.
