Source monitor and Playback do not function

Hello, I use Premiere Pro CC in the update 12,1 (The most recent version of August 2018)

Both the source monitor and the playback monitor have no screen and show only the colour of the background. When scrolling through the timeline, the timeline in playback and audio do work, but there still is no visual representation at all.

When switching to a different working space, the shape of the playback screen changes depending on the workspace and when going back, the old workspace lines still show through the playback as though it's a window showing the other working space whilst everything else behaves ordinarily.

I've tried to change many things like the rendering to "Software only", updating the app, re-installing the app and removing all preferences, but nothing seems to work.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Hi Scurio,

What are your system specs (OS/GPU/RAM)?

Possibly a corrupt workspace issue, reset the workspace & let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Kulpreet Singh

Hello,

I am running Windows 10 64 bit with a GPU of NVIDA GeForce 1060 and a RAM of 16GB. I hope this information will suffice.

Sadly enough your solution did not work.

I also tried the solution from John T Smith by updating my NVIDIA driver and right now my Adobe Premiere does start up and allow me to import a video, but as soon as I click on the video, Premiere crashes and sends a crash report.

Thank you both by the way. It's great to feel supported like this and I do hope we get to figure it out.

I will inform you if I do manage to succeed before receiving more of your advice.

Hi Scurio,

Sorry for the delay in response. Just for a test, install a previous version of Premiere Pro and see if it works: Install the previous version of your Creative Cloud app

Also, if possible downgrade the GPU drivers and check the playback.

Please let us know the status.

Thanks,

Vidya

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers

Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter

•nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

•ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

There are also intermittent reports that the newest driver is not always the best driver due to driver bugs or compatibility issues, so you MAY need to try an earlier driver version
