Yellow line on sequence/ no ripple delete

I tried to do right click, "ripple delete" on the gap between these two clips, but the ripple delete is greyed out and will not let me select it. does this have anything to do with break in the yellow line on the sequence (photo below)? what is the yellow for?

The break in the yellow line has nothing to do with no being able to ripple delete.

Hard to tell as you do not show the entire timeline but youur audio underneath the clips probably prevents this.
