Encore CS6 cannot run in non-royalty serialized mode...

I use Encore (through CC) a few times a year when someone requests a DVD. I launch it the other day and I get this error:

Adobe Encore CS6 cannot run in non-royalty serialized mode. The application needs to be serialized with a royalty bearing serial number

I've tried unintstalling/reinstalling.

I've tried deactivating Premiere Pro CS6, and activating again.

I've tried logging out of CC and back in.

I've tried uninstalling all apps, and CC, using the cleaner tool. and installing again and I still get the same error...

Please, is there any solution to this?

Thanks, everyone who tried their best to help me!! I appreciate it! Now I know the only way to solve the issue was to create a whole new Creative Cloud account!!!

I said, "Try running PR CS6 once, before you open EN." but it appears you have done that - and more - not sure what is wrong.

I can't tell if it is fully updated for CC type credentials, but it appears to be.

Thanks for the suggestion Stan.

I tried it just now. Still no go. But interestingly enough, a week ago I had an issue importing video to Premiere Pro CC from an iphone X, saying I needed activation to use codecs for HEVC, or something to that effect. Not entirely clear.

Maybe this is an extension of that now to encore...

Atempaj, please check the installation logs to see if there are any errors that are preventing Encore from licensing properly.  Information on how to locate the installation log can be found at Troubleshoot install issues with log files in Adobe Creative Suite (CS6, CS5.5, CS5), PS Elements, a... .  I would recommend focusing on the PDAapp.log.

Thanks, Atempaj, but this is a warning.  Please use the Find command to look for Errors within the log.  Every log file referenced in Troubleshoot install issues with log files in Adobe Creative Suite (CS6, CS5.5, CS5), PS Elements, a... is appended to during each installation.  The most recent errors will be at the end of the file.  If you don't see any errors in the PDApp log then please check the other log files referenced.

Excellent, Atempaj, the Error DF037 indicates an inability to delete or update the required directories.  There are multiple permission failures listed within the log file.  Please use the steps listed in Error exit code 6, exit code 7 installing Adobe Creative Cloud to update the file permissions.

Error DF031 indicates that the existing files are unable to be read or that the file does not exist.  Similar to the DF037 please attempt to adjust the file permissions to each location listed with Error DF031.

IF Windows, 2 things to try

-RIGHT click the program icon or EXE and select a compatibility mode in the pop up option window

-or Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 to assign FULL Windows permissions may help

Atempaj, the DF012 indicates a failure to read the necessary installation files.  You can find more details on this error at Installation and launch log errors | Adobe Creative Suite 6, Adobe Creative Suite 5.5, Adobe Creativ... .   You are installing Encore CS6 through the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app using the steps listed in How to download and install Adobe Encore CS6, Atempaj?

If so, then please begin the installation in a newly created local administrator account.  Steps on how to set up a new account can be found at Adobe troubleshooting: Creating an admin account in Windows

The current User account has already encountered several file permissions errors that you have manually corrected, Atempaj.  The newly created local Administrator account should have default permissions so you should not continue to receive these type of failures.

Please update this discussion with the results, Atempaj.  There are additional steps that we can implement, but I am hopeful the newly created local administrator account will alleviate the current errors you are facing.

New administrator didn't resolve the issue. I tried it on both my MacBook Pro and my Mac Pro... Going to try a windows laptop next. But that you very much for the suggestion! I was hopeful that would be it...

I do know that "regular" CS6 (and earlier) with serial numbers require a special step to install, but since I'm on Windows I have NO idea what happens when you try installing through a subscription

For the serial number version...

CS6 and earlier programs have not been tested and will not be updated for Mac El Capitan or later operating systems

-which means that you try to use CS6 and earlier at YOUR risk of having problems due to Apple updates

-Apple did not maintain backward compatibility with old programs in El Capitan or Sierra

--Adobe has a workaround to Apple's problem of not maintaining backward compatibility

I think the workaround listed in Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra) is only necessary if installing with the Creative Suite installers, John.  If they are installing through the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application, then the installation at least should proceed normally.  You are right though it is becoming more difficult to install and utilize Creative Suite applications on modern versions of macOS and Windows.

Atempaj, you may be on the right track with installing Encore CS6 on a Windows laptop.  Since you have a Creative Cloud membership, you are not confined to installing only on macOS.  Even a moderately powered Windows laptop should be able to run Encore CS6.

thanks, I'll try that. Windows machine still kicks back the same error as on the Mac. I'm starting to think this is on adobe's side, Maybe my account is bugged? Is there anyway to verify that? All other apps like Premiere Pro CS6 install and open just fine. Encore seems like it installs just fine, but does not see my CC subscription.

Atempaj, what other Adobe applications and versions are installed on the Windows laptop?  If you are able to open other Creative Suite 6 applications then Encore should open.  Do you have any third-party plug-ins, for Creative Suite 6 apps, installed on both the Mac and the Windows computer?

Atempaj, if the newly created administrator account did not solve the error I was going to recommend the following steps:

  1. Run all available uninstallers for Adobe applications - Uninstall or remove Creative Cloud apps
  2. Download and run a fresh copy of the CC Cleaner Tool - Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
  3. Download and install the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application - Download Creative Cloud desktop app
  4. Download and install Premiere Pro CS6 - How to download and install Adobe Encore CS6

You can use these steps for both Mac or Windows operating systems.  When implementing these actions on the Mac, I would recommend using the newly created local administrator account.

I'm a little confused. Is Encore installed and throwing errors when you try to open? Or not installing, which is what I thought the error messages are.

It doesn't matter which computer I'm on. It seems to be that it installs everything. Just when I launch it it give me the error thinking I don't have a CC subscription or serial. Premiere Pro was giving me the same issue thinking I was on trial mode when I tried to import iPhone x HEVC video files. The same error that I posted in the original post.

This is the licensing error I get when I try and launch it, not during installation.

I recently installed Premiere Pro CS6 (with encore) on windows 10 laptop (brand new). No other software on it other than Adobe CC.
