This is what I'm getting displayed on my desktop. This hasn't ever happened on my Laptop. I've tried updating Windows and uninstalled LR and reinstalled it. There is no other "application" using LR. I really need a fix for this please.

Take a look in the folder were the catalog is saved. If you find there a file with the extension .lck or .lock please delete it. Then try to start Lightroom again.

Your Lr probably crashed before deleting the lock file.
