Hi Sylviab,

From the 'Comment Tool', choose "Add Text Comment", add the file name, then print the PDF file.

For detailed information about printing comments, please refer to Adobe help article Print comments | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hello Sylviab,

As per the description above, you want to print the file name on the PDF, Is that correct?

With the freeware Adobe Reader, you can use Comment Tool to add a sticky note, add the file name, then:

  • Go to Comments and then to the option icon
  • Go to Comments preferences
  • Mark "Print notes and pop-ups".

With paid version of Acrobat, you can use the Header and Footer tool to add the file name in the PDF and print it. For detailed information, you can refer to Adobe article Add headers, footers, and Bates numbering to PDFs, Adobe Acrobat

You can also add custom JavaScript in Acrobat to print the file name on PDF. You can refer to the Adobe discussion and try the suggestions Print File Name with pdf Document

In Pro DC, how to print filename in footer of pdf?

How do I add the file name to a pdf printout using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC?

Feel free to update this discussion for further assistance.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Thanks Anand, I was able to add the comment to the document, and I enabled the option to print comments, but the text doesn't print, it only prints the speech bubble icon.

I need to do this with 1700 PDFs in a folder. They all need to have the filename in the same spot, and the same text format.

Is there a way I can batch this?? I'm hoping so...

May be possible with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Action Wizard.

Certainly not with Reader. You can do it in Acrobat Pro using an Action and a script, though.

With my Epson printer - select print - select properties - selct more options - select waternmark features - select header/footer then simply select what you want from the drop downs. Simples.

You can then add this as a preset on your more options page.

That's great, but not all printers have such a functionality.
