I have many hours of avi files that I need to convert to another format to keep as masters. Some avi’s are edit masters and some are unedited footage and they were originally mostly captured from standard def 4x3 analog tapes (VHS, Umatic 3/4, Betacam etc) using Premiere on Windows. Now with Premiere on a Mac, the avi’s are not recognized.
I do have an older PC w/Premiere that I can use to do the conversions so I just need to know what would be the optimal export settings.
Thanks.
Hi Shortend,
Now with Premiere on a Mac, the avi’s are not recognized.
Sorry about that. Here is the reason: Dropped support for QuickTime 7 era formats and codecs
You can transcode the footage in CC2017 or earlier, or simply work in that version.
I do have an older PC w/Premiere that I can use to do the conversions so I just need to know what would be the optimal export settings.
For Mac, you can use GoPro Cineform or DNxHD. Let us know if you need assistance with that.
Thanks,
Kevin
