I'm a working professional in the film VFX industry recently switched over to Premier Pro CC and I'm attempting to cut a new demo reel using content ripped from Blu Ray disks. After dropping the clips into Premier as I work I'm getting severe dropped frames and frame mismatch during playback. The mismatch frames 'appear' as if they are slipping either forward/backward during playback.
My content details:
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 10.86 GB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Total Duration: 01:44:23:24
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Video Codec Type: MP4/MOV H.264 4:2:0
My Machine specs are:
OS: Windows 10 Pro
System: 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980
RAM: 64.0 GB
Project set up:
Premier Pro is installed on my Local Disk (C:) My Project files are set up on a separate Crucial SSD (D:) drive for speed instead of my mechanical (E:) drive. I've ingested my content to the same parent folder as project folder.
I've been going through the doc's and tried the following:
enabled the Show Dropped Frames indicator
lowering playback res to 1/4
disabled High Quality Playback
enabled/disabled the 'Renderer: Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration' without success
matched footage in sequence settings
I don't have safe margins enable and the Lumetri Scopes Panel is closed
I've also set up a 720p proxy to speed up my work flow but unfortunately the proxie output has mismatched frames with the full res source material. I'm on a time deadline and would welcome feedback if I am missing a fundamental part of the set up.

I don't know what that means. Can you clarify?

Hi Jim. When I describe 'mismatch frames' I mean as I play the clip in the timeline, or step through frame by frame, frames either ahead or behind the current frame will appear. Example below:
00:03:40
00:03:41
00:03:42
00:03:43
00:03:41 ( displays 3 frames back to 03:41 in place of 03:44)
00:03:45
00:03:46
Simple example of a larger issue. As I edit, cut/trim etc, the playback drops frames and mismatch frames swap in and out.

OK.
My best idea is faulty source material. It's far better to go back to the original projects for compilation than use a final deliverable.

FYI, I was having some similar issues. For what it's worth, I solved my issues by rolling back to version 12.0.1. Perhaps it might be worth a try for you.
