when LR updated, it started adding, On Its Own, some streaks in my photos when i use either the highlight or the shadow. some look great and at first i kinda liked it, but now i see that it adds it Too much in places i don't want them.
here's an example...
this is the Last one and it is a 'shadow' lines... dark
many of them are 'shine' lines... light
(my names, only way i know to describe them)
... starting at top left there are 4 'shadow' lines that come down through the picture down the concrete towards the boad. i didn't put those there, don't want them there, and they are Not in the original picture. was added by LR during editing - the lines go across the boat, people ... can see on the back of the boat where they are extending
(and i am basic 101, so explanations have to be 'dummyfied') - thank you if you can help me with this!!

If you upload the original photo to Dropbox or similar and post the sharing link here, others can take a look and see what might be going on.

It looks to me like an auto-synced adjustment brush from another image.

how would i fix that. the shadow and light lines are in different places on every photo that it appears on.

If that's what it is, just kill the adjustment pin.
It was just a theory that could explain it. Better to upload to dropbox and let others have a look.

i'm not understanding. don't know anything about an adjustment pin. also, i don't have, nor do i want, dropbox. and... i added a picture example above, is that not seen?? all the info is in that explanation with the example picture below it. and if no one can see it, what is the purpose of being able to add pictures to this place?!

The photo displayed by the forum software is not the original photo -- it has the streaks "baked" into it when you uploaded it. By providing us with access to the original photo, we can see if the issue is a property of the original photo or something that's particular to your LR configuration or hardware. Based on that, we may well be able to suggest what to do next.
Unfortunately, this forum doesn't provide a way of sharing original files. To do that, you'll need to use Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, or one of many other cloud-based file-sharing services.

D Fosse is absolutely right. These are adjustment brush strokes synced from another image or embedded in a preset. Just go in the adjustment brush in Develop. Select the brush stroke pins and delete them or hit reset on the adjustment brush in the develop side panel for the brushes.
You can see that that is what these are from the xmp metadata in the image you embedded above. Bet you didn't know that Lightroom by default embeds all the develop settings in exported images.
