Play Back Lag Time

Hey guys I have the most up to date version of premier pro and I am using a MacBook Air

Memory:8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Processor:1.6 GHz Intel Core i5

Graphics:Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB

I have never had issues with Premier before but now I find the play back so slow and lagging that I cannot get any work done.

I don't fully understand proxys but maybe they will help.....?

I have also tried putting all of my data on a 1TB external hard drive and cleared the entire hard drive on the main computer.

Any suggestions would be amazing

I am surprised it worked at all with that processor.  You may need more RAM
