External hard drive folders visible in library

Hello, I switched from a PC to a Mac recently. All my folders were backed up on an external hard drive. When I downloaded Lightroom and plugged in my EHD, I saw the drive appear in the folder pane and when I expanded, all my folders were there.

But over the weekend I imported photos from a memory card onto my Mac HD and now when I plug in the EHD, it no longer shows up in the folder pane. I've tried importing a photo from the EHD, so now at least Lightroom is seeing the EHD, but only that one photo I imported, not all the photos like before.

Help! I don't want to import the photos from the EHD onto my Mac HD. I want to work from my EHD directly.

Can you post a screenshot of the Folders panel?

My guess is that when you imported, in the Import dialog box you chose Copy instead of Add.
