That you'll get ... the per-character animations in Ae are to me one of the big draws to step across that chasm ...

Neil, you can think of typeGEMs V2 as a delivery service - no need to step out to get your fix. 😉
A little trivia - the first per character type tool for AE was from a 3rd party - Panopticum and their product was called AnimaText. It was a really awesome tool.
There's also a lot of confusion among users on how to use the Type Tool - it's a massive tool and I too get into a brainfart at times. But typeGEMs is supposed to provide an elegant solution to at least 70-80% of the requirements for type animations. I like what I've done with the native Ease High/Low, to make them a lot more intuitive.
