Acrobat Notification Client

I have about a dozen Windows 10 systems that have stated getting a C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AcrobatNotificationClient error. The error is "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item.

We do not push updates to Adobe products.

Any idea what may be causing this error?

Hi mortonpc4,

As per the issue description mentioned above, users are getting Acrobat notification client error on Win 10 machines, is that correct?

Could you confirm the dot version of Acrobat installed on the machine? You may refer to the steps given in this link on how to check the version in Acrobat: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Let us know if you need any help.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the info. Could you try rebooting the machine once if you haven't already and check if users are still receiving the error?

If yes, try repairing Acrobat using "Repair installation" option under Help menu, reboot the machine after repair and check.

Let us know if you need any help.

Hi Patrick,

Could you try replicating the issue in an admin account by clicking Start  > Settings  > Accounts  > Family & other users, and check if the issue persists?

If yes, remove Acrobat on one of the machines using cleaner tool which you can download from here: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine.

Install Acrobat from here: Download Acrobat DC installer for Enterprise term or VIP license and check.

We have been experiencing the same on a handful of machines and have never been able to figure this out.

Have you reviewed whether the Acrobat Notification Client communications can occur, both In & Out, in the effected machines?

You'd need to review the firewall settings
