I am running Windows 10 (build 1803) and Lightroom Classic 8.0 (Build 1193777).
I am able to start LR Classic, import a local directory of photos (including RAW), but when I switch to 'Develop', Lightroom crashes (takes a few minutes to pop-up a crash report to send to Adobe).
I had uninstalled LR Classic. Removed the directories and contained files (.... \Pictures\Lightroom), and re-installed. The behaviour remains - Crash when switching to 'Develop'.
Any ideas?

Please try switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue
Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Are you directly connecting the camera or using a card reader?
Is the destination folder an internal drive, external drive, or network folder?
