Acrobat Pro 2017 Mac-software crashes after 10-20 seconds

I bought Acrobat Pro 2017 as a download last month. The software starts but, within 10-20 seconds, crashes. This happens if I: a) click on a pdf link in an email; b) open a pdf in Finder; or, c) just open the program. I have looked at numerous threads with similar problems, but have not found the answer.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Rebooted after reinstallation. Both OS (Mojave 10.14.1) and Acrobat are up to date. I looked in the Library/Preference file for Acrobat pro. All I found was Acrobat DC.

I previously had what Abode informed me was a pirated version of Acrobat. I deleted that before I installed the real version the first time.

Hi johns,

Thanks for the info.

Could you try following troubleshooting steps:

1- Download and run cleaner tool on the machine to uninstall Acrobat: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

2- Reboot the machine

3- Download and install Acrobat from here: Download Acrobat 2017

4- Reboot the machine again and check.

Hi johns,

As we have checked the account details using the email address you are logged into the forums, you have a perpetual license for Acrobat 2017 and subscription for Acrobat Pro DC, (currently inactive)

Could you check if you still have Acrobat DC installed on the machine by going into the /Applications folder? If yes, remove Acrobat DC , reboot the machine, and try opening pdf files again.

You may refer to the following help document for the same:

Installing, uninstalling Adobe Acrobat X | Mac OS

Also, could you confirm dot version of Acrobat installed on the machine? You may refer to the steps given in this link on how to check the version in Acrobat: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Let us know if you need any help.

Thank you, Shivam.

The version I have installed is 2017.011.30105.

The only Adobe folder in Applications is Acrobat 2017.

However, in Library I found the following files:

Library/Application Support/Adobe

     AAM Updater

     Acrobat 11

     Acrobat 2017

     Acrobat DC

     Preflight 11

     Preflight Acrobat Continuoua

     Preflight Acrobat Perpetual

     AcroCef

          2017

          DC

     AcroExt

          Acrobat

               11.0

[and a bunch more]

Library/Preferences/Adobe

     Acrobat

          DC

     ARMDC

     Color

Does any of this help? Thanks.

I just loaded acrobat 2017 for mac and it crashes on opening.  I probably have some old files from version 8 and 9 floating around somewhere and wondering if that is culprit.  Running 10.14.6.
