Keywords getting applied to all images in catalog .....

I'm in version 6.14 and I'm in grid view (library mode) attempting to keyword photos in a single folder. If I select and keyword a single image it appears to be changing the keywords on every image in the entire catalog. Doesn't matter what change I make, it changes the keywords on every image (over 20,000 of them). I'm likely doing something stupid here but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Apparently you have all the images in the filmstrip selected,

Thanks for the response David. That was not the case, but I did restart everything and all seems to be ok. Really not sure what was going on but I appreciate the help none the less.
