On a mid 2010 Mac Pro 12 core with 40GB memory. Pretty bad there is no contact phone number to speak to support at Adobe on this issue. Seems lots of users are having problems & it is a sad thing they need to solve problem themselves.
Dandes,
Are you aware of this Adobe feedback site : Adobe Photoshop Family ? Posting there will give you more chances to get in touch with Adobe reps.

Are you asking about the NEW LR CC, Cloud Centric version of LR, or the new LR Classic CC, or the older LR CC 2015 (LR 6.x)
Please clarify with the EXACT LR Version number.

Been a LR user from very beginning. When I open my LR catalogue with over 46000 photos...previews are slow to load & fill with ratings. My photos that have previously synced with 0 left are syncing again. Even have paused syncing & still get a spinning wheel leaving me with an unusable LR... can leave it opened overnight & it will happen again & again after LR is opened.

You were already shown.
This is a user to user support forum. There's other methods of receiving support.

I will just wait for Adobe to Fix as LR is unusable & users should not have to try some forum posts of purging files & caches to fix!!!!! Will do my current work on a power book pro using LR.

Two things to try before going any further.
Reset your preferences:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/
Optimize your catalog.
I'm running Mojave, no such issues (even with older versions like LR5) FWIW.

thedigitaldog... previously optimized the cat. Took your suggestion & trashed preferences- note: was not as per linked url instructions but dumped entire folder Preferences/Adobe/Lightroom (contained all LR preferences from 2014 - 5.5 to current 8.0) Restarted computer... So far so good LR is running smoothly & quickly. Will turn on dark mode & see if it holds up.
MANY MANY THANKS for bringing my attention to dumping preferences!

Lightroom back to original problem slow spinning color wheel & continually syncing photos every time opened. Still IMPOSSIBLE TO USE!!!!! Doesn't Adobe have telephone support anymore?

>continually syncing photos
That's likely the issue. turn off the sync and see if that helps. Also make sure Mojave is at the .1 version. Apple fixed some bugs that were slowing Lightroom down tremendously in a few operations. I am amazed that a 2010 machine will run Mojave by the way. That is very unexpected.

Running 10.14.1 OK in all my other Adobe Apps (Photoshop, Illustrator etc)- Just bought a Radeon RX 580 to replace my original ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card (not Mojave compatible)... Did turn off sync & reset preferences helped for about 5 minutes then went back to spinning color wheels on every move. Trying to get most out of 2010 Mac Pro 12 core as it still runs all my needed apps & have external sata boxes for backups.

I mainly run on a 2012 Mac Book Pro in Mojave and it runs surprisingly well. Your 12 core machine should run Lightroom quite well as it is much more beefy than my machine especially with the newer video card. Only thing to suggest is to turn off GPU acceleration to see if that helps the beach balling. One of the reasons for the beach balling is the raw data getting loaded onto the vide card and that being slow in older machines.
What kind of resolution display are you using?

Using Apple Cinema HD 30-inch (2560 x 1600)

Yeah that should be fine. If this were a 4K display it is not unusual to have delays regularly if the standard previews are not big enough.

Turned off video display processor... OK for 1st 5 minutes than back to spinning wheel. Isn't there any support at Adobe Tech you can call to help anymore?

Well I am transferring a 550GB of photos & 8GB cat file to another computer & see if it works. Not looking forward locating all the photos in folders to lrcat.
All I have to say is the Adobe support is terrible & not accessible!!!!! You used to be able to call & speak to someone.
