hi ,

i've an older 3' clip of uncompressed quicktime video with IMA 1:4 compressed audio track on it.

quicktime solo plays the clip without problems.

Ppro imports the clip and plays it without problems.

Ppro cc18 plays the clip , but there is no audio signal reckognized

media encoder CC18 doesn't show audio tracks

neither did after effects or daVinci ressolve.

That older format is not recognized any more by "modern" apps ... so if you can run it in PrPro CS6 or an earlier CC version on your machine as you say, export it as DNxHD, Cineform, or ProRes in a decently high flavor, use that in the more modern apps.

hi neil ,

thanks for your idea ...I've been testing this ...of course...

in CC18 ,

result:: there is a new (DNXHD) video with audio track , but no sound .(

CS6 media encoder has no HIGHQuality DNXHD HR or  similar export options.

since this is not the only clip to be 'converted' i am forced to find a shorttrack of conversion effort.

absurdity - quicktime DOES play these clips ...

thx michael

hello,

got it ...

CS17 media encoder could convert the clip...to another hires - format

but why NOT CC18  ?

it is a native quicktime movie.

Michael,

As Ann suggests, I believe the clip(s) has all the tell-tale signs of having a QuickTime wrapped 32 bit codec that is no longer supported. Transcode similar clips in CC2017 to workaround this issue. Hope that helps.

Thanks,
Kevin
