Apply effect to multiple clips or use an adjustment layer?

Is it better to apply an effect to multiple clips or use an adjustment layer? Does it make any difference in export time if I use one method or the other?

With the AL, you can make the adjustments across all clips very quickly.

Applying directly to the clips, you can tweak each one individually.

So each method has it's advantages.

Export should be the same either way.
