Never used one. -

Laurentiu G Todie Oct 19, 2008 4:54 AM (in response to Wade S Zimmerman)Wade, the Neodymium Enhancing Filter does not really care about reality
but about possibilities
http://www.firstlightoptics.com/proddetail.php?prod=bneodymium
not mentioned in the above article is the suggestion (not mine) that this filter differentiates among subtle shades of brown

fantastic for photographing: fall colors, sunsets and sunrises, red barns, some portraits, western scenics -

Hudechrome-sd9sPI Oct 19, 2008 7:51 AM (in response to Wade S Zimmerman)I've used that filter a fair amount in Autumn, but amazingly, when you try to mess with white balance, the software basically neutralizes it! -

Laurentiu G Todie Oct 19, 2008 11:16 AM (in response to Wade S Zimmerman)what happens when you stick your fingers in a socket? : ) -
11. Re: It's is here agin but soon to be gone
Hudechrome-sd9sPI Oct 19, 2008 12:42 PM (in response to Wade S Zimmerman)Depends on :
a)Is the socket live?
b)Are your fingers wet or dry?
c)Are you grounded?
d)Is the system a low voltage circuit or line voltage?
For best results, first get into a bathtub full of water. Even 12V will get your attention, maybe even a visit to the pearly gates. :D -

13. Re: It's is here agin but soon to be gone
Hudechrome-sd9sPI Oct 19, 2008 5:42 PM (in response to Wade S Zimmerman)I quite agree, Todie. I liked it quite well in the film days, then when I tried it on digital, the effect vanished with white balance correction, true also with scans of the film version.
Sometime I may do some experiments to see how to maintain it's effectiveness. -

Really nice, shep. Your compositions have a whimsical quality that's very appealing. Excellent use of contrasting (complimentary) colors as well.

Wade S Zimmerman Oct 20, 2008 5:23 AM (in response to Wade S Zimmerman)I love shep's works and howard's as well.
OK lawrence has outstanding skills but I have to ask you about this, because it is bothering me for a while.
Do you really feel that a rose requires that Lawrence Hudetz, that's you, has to try and make it better then it already is? Why does t have to be engineered.I know Ansel Adams did it as well.
It's a fine photo of a Rose but, it is way overboard in my opinion.
You put too much sugar in your coffee and all you have is a cup of wet sugar.
Why is it necessary to go so far over the top that there is no subject of important.
Why trek all the way to a Mountain if you are going to make it look like something other then the mountain?
The reason I write this here is that I have been asked in the past what i saw about sheps work that I do not see with the other people posting here here is a very clear and graphic example of the difference.
One has something to say about what they see and captures the truth and extracts these qualities from the subject, the other sees w=very little in the subject that is worth expressing and makes it into something entirely different.
I say then why bother!
I know you are going to get defensive about this but that is how I see the difference between what I see as a clear intellect and an uninhibited expression and a rather contrived effort to control everything to the point of losing all meaning and purpose except to control things.
It goes for most of you as well. You show little respect for your subject and it usually could be any subject it is going to look the same, always.
I forgot, don't be angry with meafter all I'm just an artist!
How's it going LT. Having a good fall? -

LRK 2 Oct 20, 2008 5:44 AM (in response to Wade S Zimmerman)I've not taken the time to comment on all these wonderful fall images, but have been enjoying them very much.
Shep, You seem to bring a new dimension to center cropping. You have a style that is uniquely you. Your tree in Post 14 makes me stop and want to take it in. Between the contrast of warm and cool colors, the center cropping that in this case seems to make the tree stand as a star performer, the amazing puffy repetitive clouds, the streaming flock of birds to the right, and the low horizontal line of separation at the bottom, the image is delightful and welcoming. -

So far as the rose is concerned, i stared at it a long time, shot several versions of it and what you see is what I saw in my mind's eye.
I do not even attempt to produce "reality" as it was. What you see is reality as it is now.
BTW, if you go through the iterations of RAW conversion available in 4.5, you would see a huge variation on the theme of the rose. Non matched my inner eye.
If you don't care for it, that can't be helped. -
39. Re: It's is here agin but soon to be gone
(Donald_Reese) Oct 20, 2008 9:10 AM (in response to Wade S Zimmerman)Wade, you are a very calculating individual, in the way you belittle others, all the while seeming so innocent in your intentions. there are only so many of us here, so why dont you just put my name down, and quit beating around the bush when you are trying to let the whole world know you absolutely abhor my work.
You seem to think that if you point the camera at something and take one shot, do nothing to it, then you are being true to the subject. when i photograph something,i do my best to present it in a way that reflects my experience of the subject. Digital has opened up new opportunities to record things in a way that i feel is truer to life than ever before available,so why on earth do you feel the need to make this concerted effort to degrade other peoples work?
I agree that shep has a unique style, and i can always tell his work, and i enjoy his viewpoint on things, but i also admit his vision of things is not the same as how i see things. I can view his work and even though he has a different approach ,i dont try and change him or preach at him to fit some pre conceived notion of right or wrong.
If you like something you see, by all means tell the person you appreciate their work, but if you are just hell bent on trying to marginalize someone else, then just shut the **** UP ALREADY.If you really want to destroy this place, by all means, bring on your best stuff, because i am at the point of getting banned from here if you are so inclined to keep stirring up trouble. I certainly dont count you as a friend here, but what really baffles me is how you insult people here that have actually met with you and been nice to you. as far as you being an artist, thats open to debate.
