shoot me now-d3u3se Aug 27, 2008 6:39 AM (in response to Nick Decker)>so, much ado about not much.
Unless you want to make movies. This capability troubles me for some reason... maybe because in the future I'll be expected to be a videographer as well as a photographer. -

Nick Decker Aug 27, 2008 7:09 AM (in response to Nick Decker)Yeah, Ho, I saw that feature. Means little or nothing to me; if I was gonna make movies, I'd buy a dedicated Hi-Def movie camera. -

(Peter_Figen) Aug 27, 2008 9:52 AM (in response to Nick Decker)There a lot of news photogs being asked to shoot video now to satisfy web demands. This might make it easier for the photograher to have one kit for multiple functions, as long as they get paid for their added duties. -

Nick Decker Aug 27, 2008 12:04 PM (in response to Nick Decker)Peter, David Hobby mentioned that very thing on strobist.com today. I'm not a news photog, so wouldn't know much about those requirements, but I would guess that the D90 would be fine for web video. Heck, I'm sure my P&S Canon G9's video (which I only use for shooting my cat doing stupid pet tricks) would be fine for that. :) -

Hudechrome-sd9sPI Aug 27, 2008 12:23 PM (in response to Nick Decker)It's amazing what the higher end "point and shoot" cameras can do. Before I had the D80, I used a WA Nikon, the desigantion of which escapes me at the moment. Yesterday, I was looking at some of those files, and I was charmed by how it saw certain subjects.
i kinda wish I still had it! -

shoot me now-d3u3se Aug 27, 2008 1:15 PM (in response to Nick Decker)Actually, as I remember the specs, the D90 is capable of better video than most consumer garden-variety dedicated video cameras. It may do for broadcast, especially if it's the only camera at the scene. -

We often see mobile phone footage on the news! -

Deaf Web Designer Sep 2, 2008 2:10 PM (in response to Nick Decker)Let's say if you are in middle of taking pictures of some cyclists on street somewhere in Manhattan in New York City. All the sudden, you happen to notice there is police officer starting to beat up this cyclist for no reason... you could use this evidence with D90 right there on the fly.
Police officers ought to be careful with their behavior toward citizens. -

Ramón G Castañeda Sep 2, 2008 5:05 PM (in response to Nick Decker)It's OK if they beat up the cyclists as long as they get them out of my way. -
