    Start Windows,  Acrobat 7.0.9 re-installs.

    BigJohnD Community Member
Win XP SP2, (full admin rights) standalone with internet, CS2 and AA7.0.9. I also have AR 8.1.1 installed.

      This is what happens:
I boot up the PC, Windows loads and the Installer starts for AA7.0.9.

It runs through the installation, and requests a re-boot. So I re-boot. All is well.

Close down windows - no visible error messages.

On the next starting of windows, the installation starts again.

      What I done so far:
Uninstalled AA7, re-installed AA7 and updated to Ver 7.0.9. Problem persists.

If I hit "cancel" as the installer appears, AA will run fine.

      Any ideas?

Many messages, scattered throughout the forum with different titles, contain various problems concerning having more than one version of Acrobat (or even Acrobat and Reader) installed at the same time

General advice I've seen is to pick a version, and only have ONE installed

A colleague has AA7/AR8 on another PC and a laptop without this problem.

Fresh re-installs of AA7 and maybe AR7 instead of AR8?

Same problems as John and Rachel who also posted on the 18th. Both problems seem to be related somehow and the issue is alive and well on my laptop and my PC. I have XP Pro and MS Office 2007 on both. On my PC I have Acrobat 8 and my lap top I have Acrobat 7 (updates to .9).

I had no problems at all and then one day I started getting that message that I was "missing pdf maker files" and the reboot message that John mentions. I did all updates as recommended but continue to get both messages. I've rebooted more times in the last three days than I have in weeks.

Is it possible that Acrobat was corrupted by a particular doc. I ask this because on both (laptop & PC) I don't recall having any issue until I tried to convert a particular WORD doc. It was the same doc in both instances...concidence or potential cause? That said, I did have a slight problem with Publisher as well (like Rachel) but it was resolved as far as I can recall, although I haven't tried in a while. As of now Acrobat is not functioning at all and I continue to get both messages.

              Help!!! for all of us...

                Hi, Lana,

Sorry to hear of your problems which seem far worse than mine.

AA7 and AR8 both run and live side-by-side perfectly - it's just the AA7.0.9 re-install every time WinXP loads. I suspect something like a registry error or temp file that fails to delete.

                  Thanks John.

My situation isn't pretty. I seem to be completely crippled and unable to create PDF's at all.

                  I'll keep trying.

I have an even more defined problem. I am running Windows XP Pro with Office Ultimate 2007 and Acrobat Pro 8.1. If I try to create a pdf from within publisher using the Adobe icon it works, but if I try to create a pdf from with Acrobat by creat pdf from a file I get the missing pdf maker file message. I found one post to change a registry entry to '3' and did that. It worked once and now I have the same problem. More of an annoyance since I can create the pdf from with Publisher, but anyone know what is going on here? Thanks. Tom

Has anyone sorted out this issue? I have the same problem: Win XP Pro, CS2 with Acrobat and everything else. I have the problem with 7.0.9 re-installing repeatedly every time I restart. Driving me crazy.

                        Bonjour

J'ai créé une AIP pour l'installation Acrobat Standard 708 mais quand j'installe le patch 709 sur l'AIP de l'acrobat Standard 708,
Je ne peut plus installer l'acrobat Standard. le N° de serie n'est plus valide.

                        WHY ?

for those with the issue of Acrobat reconfiguring,

check the application event viewer, and look for a MSI entry at the time the configuring takes place.

                          What's the error mentioned?
