1. Re: Distributing Acrobat Reader on a CD
(Aandi_Inston) Feb 15, 2008 8:41 AM (in response to Bullitt667)This isn't really viable. You have to run the installer.

2. Re: Distributing Acrobat Reader on a CD
Bullitt667 Feb 15, 2008 8:47 AM (in response to Bullitt667)Actually I have someone else's CD that runs Acrobat Reader from the CD without installing, so I know it's feasible. Just don't know how to do it.
Thanks for trying to help.

(Aandi_Inston) Feb 15, 2008 8:55 AM (in response to Bullitt667)Is this a very old version of Adobe Reader? It was viable at one time.

4. Re: Distributing Acrobat Reader on a CD
Bullitt667 Feb 15, 2008 9:10 AM (in response to Bullitt667)Yes, it seems to be Version 4.05. Is that version still available? Is that the latest version that can do this?
Thanks,

5. Re: Distributing Acrobat Reader on a CD
(Aandi_Inston) Feb 15, 2008 11:48 AM (in response to Bullitt667)The Reader redistribution license only allows you to distribute the
current version. So this option is no longer available to new
applications.

6. Re: Distributing Acrobat Reader on a CD
Bullitt667 Feb 15, 2008 11:57 AM (in response to Bullitt667)So, you're saying I can not distribute a version to run on CD only? -
7. Re: Distributing Acrobat Reader on a CD
GKaiseril Feb 15, 2008 12:26 PM (in response to Bullitt667)Mark Anderson posted the instructions for version 4.0, the last version that was allowed to be distributed as a run time version. The basic procedure should be the same, but you may have problem with some of the DLLs that will be needed, as these change by OS variations and OEM versions of the OS. It is pretty much a trial and error proposition, where you may have to find special DLLs. -

~graffiti Feb 15, 2008 12:59 PM (in response to Bullitt667)Also, you may want to head Aandi's words.
You're only allowed to distribute the latest version. -

That would be my understanding.
Take care: you may find that you can make a CD that runs "from the CD"
if Reader or Acrobat is already installed on the system, as it is in
your case. But this is NOT a general solution for people without the
software installed.
