1. Re: Default Image settings - handling multiple presets?
(Jeff_Schewe) Feb 19, 2009 8:03 AM (in response to MacWright)>Default Image Settings allows for presets based upon camera serial number and ISO.
Uh no...it is wrong to consider the per serial/ISO as "presets"...they are "Defaults"...big difference in implication if not concept. The "Defaults" that are set based on ISO/Serial are hard "all in one" defaults that are captured when you make the current settings the default.
Presets can indeed use overlapping presets because you can save out subsettings as presets. That can't be done with Defaults.
As far as the lens corrections thing, expect interesting developments on that front for the next version. -

Thanks for the response.

I'm still unclear then as to why we have 2 options which can be active simultaneously within the "default image settings".
If serial/ISO default settings are "all in one" and mutually exclusive, it seems that we should only be allowed to chose one or the other.
(could just be that I need another cup of coffee this morning)
thx again. -
3. Re: Default Image settings - handling multiple presets?
MacWright Feb 19, 2009 8:23 AM (in response to MacWright)It might be more clear if I restate the question:
What is the difference between setting the "default image settings" to:
Camera Serial Number
Camera Serial Number + ISO
ISO -
4. Re: Default Image settings - handling multiple presets?
(Jeff_Schewe) Feb 19, 2009 9:29 AM (in response to MacWright)If you only create a default based on serial number, all ISOs would be treated equally for the individual camera with that serial...meaning camera A would be the same per camera and camera B would be all the same. To get specific ISO defaults per camera you would need to first have both options checked and THEN create specific settings per serial AND per ISO.
Then the defaults would be chosen based on the EXIF metadata as it relates to serial number and/or ISO. -

MacWright Feb 19, 2009 9:56 AM (in response to MacWright)ahhhh! thanks
so the docs should read:
pg 103
Select the appropriate options in the Default Image Settings section of the Camera Raw preferences to specify whether to associate the defaults with a specific cameras serial number AND/OR with an ISO setting.
