The situation is becoming more and more curious. This morning I was on the phone with Customer Support for nearly an hour, and it ended unresolved because they could not find the e-mail with which I activated digital editions. They suggested that if I could uninstall and re-install it, I might be able to register an activation e-mail.
I followed the directions to uninstall DE 1.5, including the My Digital Editions folder, but was not asked for an E-mail to activate by the installer. I then got a new error message:
Adobe DRM Error
System: 5
State: 4
Class: 22
Code: 1
Message:

There were also no books in the library (and no copies on the computer), so I restored the trashed folder from Apple's Time Machine backup. Now I'm still getting the same error message and about half the time the crash with a similar report to the previous one.
I then also tried to create a new activation profile at the URL given me by customer support, but it must be a page for old versions of Reader. It could not detect either Reader 9 or Acrobat Standard 7, which I still have on my machine. I then downloaded a .edn file, which I tried to open manually with Acrobat, but it only produced error messages saying Bad Session Header. Acrobat also only shows 2 of the 3 books in my digital library (also inaccessible).
So I have gone from too many activations to no activations, and my Adobe ID while working on the general Adobe site is not seen by your activation server.
