Can't Authorise a SONY ebook

I have a Lenovo t61 running vista Ultimate. I have installed both SONY library and Digital Editions 1.6 The computer authorized fine.

Today I got the SONY PRS-505.

I started Adobe digital editions. It started fine. I plugged in the PRS-505 via the USB and it detected the SONY ereader.

But soon the Adobe Digital editions becomes unresponsive. A spinning icon says something is working, but the program says unresponsive.

There is a message that says to authorize the SONY, but I cannot. The Digital Editions becomes unresponsive. What should I do? The SONY cannot read DRM pdf's.

I haven't heard of anyone with similar behavior to this (ADE freezing).
