Add .swf to existing PDF?

So it looks like adding a .swf file to InDesign and then exporting it to PDF will create a file that works in Adobe Digital Editions (the video will play).

It doesn't appear to work to add the .swf file to an existing PDF, though. That PDF "looks" fine in ADE, but the video won't play.

Any ideas?

what steps did you do in indesign to make the swf file play in digital editions?

I tried to place a swf file in indesign and exported it as pdf but the video won't play in digital editions.
